Historie:

History:

The American Mustangs are descends from horses brought over by the Spanish Conquerors in the 1500´s and 1600´s to the New World. Many of these horses were left behind by the Spanish or ran away, and from this they have laid the groundwork for what is known today, as the North American wild Mustang. These horses lived on open ranges and mountain areas, where they have adjusted to the new conditions and surroundings through natural selection. The noble Spanish horse changed over the years to the tough and thrifty Mustang.

The Americans have always had use for the Mustang, from food, both animal and human use, pulling wagons to riding. At a time in the 1970`s the Mustang herds were under pressure, when their natural grazing area´s began to be too small for the size of each herd. Many of the Mustangs lived under very poor conditions and became a big problem for many farmers and cattle ranchers. The Mustangs tried to survive by getting food anyway possible.

A law was passed to protect the Mustangs and make sure that the herd size was reduced to a sustainal size, in the many different areas around America. Mustang herds are divided up into different categories, depending on where in America the Mustangs come from. The area where our Mustangs originate from, is called the "Buttes". These Butte Mustangs live in a rough area, where mountains and river beds make it harder for the horse to move around. With this type of terrain, these Mustangs will have a different quality, learning ability, intelligence and body type. BLM (Bureau of Land Management) is responsible to make sure that the population, together with round up for adoption are controlled. Wild Mustangs roam free in 10 western states and the BLM has many stations within these 10 states. In order to adopt a Mustang you must go through the BLM, as they control the adoptions and make sure that the Mustangs are trained and well taken care of by their new owners.
